The question of what art is, what its role is in society, has been a cultural obsession for thousands of years. And it’s no different for the humble novel. In this candid conversation about his work, Polish writer Ignacy Karpowicz will untangle the myriad questions surrounding the use and role of the novel. Currently concentrating on a project that resituates and reimagines the story of Orpheus and Eurydice in contemporary Warsaw, Karpowicz will also discuss the challenges of writing something new and not something that has already been written.
