Event in German, translated to French

Every first Thursday of each month, from 7 to 8 pm, a writer in residence opens a window on his or her work, universe and motives, in a free form of intervention. An hour of carte blanche to share, followed by an aperitif.

At least since the inauguration of the current US president, there has been a progressive shift in the style of politics.  Sensationalism, conflict, and spectacle have become apparent in all aspects. Governance is being treated as performance, which changes depending on the attention economy of media and its consumers. Opposing media personalities use their cultural capital to influence the political landscape in their favor.

But this strategy is not restricted to the US – countless populist figures around the world are engaging with their (potential) voters in similar ways.

In Nora Osagiobare’s literary project entitled Daughter Issues, the protagonist produces a reality television show amid the rise of European far right extremism and becomes both witness and driving force of the ongoing political changes in Germany. Mixing reading with lecture, she will present the results of her research as well as excerpts of her work.
