Biography
Olivier Remaud, a French writer and philosopher, is the director of studies at EHESS, the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences in France. The winner of several national and international awards, he has published a number of works, including Solitude volontaire (Albin Michel, 2017), Penser comme un iceberg (Actes Sud, 2020), and Quand les montagnes dansent, récits de la Terre intime (Actes Sud, 2023,). The second title has been translated into English as Thinking Like an Iceberg (Polity Press 2022). In his writing, he focuses on the ways of the world, living environments, and the relationships between humans and nonhumans. He defends the importance of stories to (re)orient our behavior with regard to all living things.
