Biography
Born in 1962 in Poland, Olga Tokarczuk earned a degree in psychology from the University of Warsaw. She has devoted herself to writing since 1997. The author of various collections of short stories, essays, serials and fiction in a variety of registers, she is a major force on the Polish literary scene. Her texts have been crowned with success and singled out for awards, including the most important Polish literary prize, the Nike Award, which she has won twice. Beyond Poland, her work has been translated into over twenty-five languages and has likewise earned her many international awards, including the Man Booker Prize, the Jan Michalski Prize for Literature and the Nobel Prize in 2018. Her titles in English include Primeval and Other Times (Twisted Spoon Press, 2010), Flights (Penguin, 2018), Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead (Riverhead Books, Penguin, 2019), The Lost Soul (Seven Stories Press, 2021), and The Books of Jacob (Fitzcarraldo Editions, 2021).
