Biography

Rose Higham Stainton is a writer, critic and landworker whose work focuses on gender, artmaking, and man’s construction of nature. Her writing has been published internationally in magazines and reviews that include ArtReview, LA Review of Books, Mousse Magazine, Flash Art, Spike, and Worms. She has contributed to artist catalogues and literary collections, and manages FENWOMEN, a series of literary events in East Anglia that highlight female, transgender and nonbinary artists. Her first full-length book, Limn the Distance (JOAN, 2023) is a hybrid poetic essay on a decentralized approach to living and artmaking through a study of the work of Bernadette Mayer and autonomous communities.
