Biography

The French essayist and freelance journalist Philippe Gagnebet lives and works in Toulouse. He is a correspondent for Le Monde in Occitania and a regular contributor to Le Monde des livres. He is also the author of several works on the environment and ecology, including Résilience écologique : Loos-en-Gohelle, ville durable (2015) and Réinventer la ville : les (r)évolutions de Darwin à Bordeaux (2016), both published by Ateliers Henry Dougier. He cowrote, with François-Xavier Salvagniac, L’inventivité territoriale des Fermes de Figeac (Ateliers Henry Dougier, 2022), a book-length essay that examines the resistance strategies and forms of solidarity that small family farms in the Lot region developed and carried out starting in the 1980s in reaction to the intensifying production of large-scale farms and industrial agriculture.
