Biography

Pemi Aguda is an author from Lagos, Nigeria. An MFA graduate from the Helen Zell Writers’ Program at the University of Michigan, she is the winner of the 2020 Deborah Rogers Foundation Award. Her writing has appeared in numerous publications, including One Story, Granta, Ploughshares, American Short Fiction, and Zoetrope. She was awarded the O. Henry Prize for short fiction in 2022 and 2023. Her debut collection of stories, Ghostroots (W.W. Norton & Company, 2024), in which she probes family and generational ties, was a finalist for the 2024 National Book Awards in Fiction.
