Biography

Born in Moscow in 1980, Nicolay Kononov lives and works in Berlin. He studied journalism and philosophy. He has contributed to Forbes and the New York Times, and currently runs a “Trigger” project, explaining global political trends at the Russian Service of the media company Deutsche Welle. He is the author of two novels and two nonfiction books. His debut novel, The Uprising, was shortlisted for the prominent Russian literary prize Nos. In 2022 a new novel, The Night We Disappear, was published that tells the stories of stateless people after WWI and WWII, and their descendants today.
