Megha Majumdar

Megha Majumdar was born and raised in Kolkata. The novelist currently lives in New York. In 2022, she published the New York Times bestselling novel A Burning (Knopf, 2020), which was nominated for a number of prestigious awards, including the National Book Award. In this the author’s first novel, which was named one of the best books of the year by several American media outlets, Majumdar tells the story of a young woman from the shantytowns of Kolkata, pointing up the class conflict and power dynamics that can govern a country.
