Maria Jansen

Maria Jansen was born in Petrozavodsk, Russia, in 1988, and immigrated to Germany with her family. She holds a degree in German language and literature, philosophy and creative writing, and is a working writer based in Berlin. She published a short story collection, Maserungen (Brot & Spiele, 2022). She was awarded several support grants while writing her first novel, Schura, which she published in 2023 (Nagel & Kimche). The book tells the story of a little Russian girl who is kept safe by her four older brothers until one of them suddenly vanishes.
