Biography
The French author Laurence Nobécourt was born in 1968 in Paris. She is interested in literature in all its forms, although poetry remains her lodestar. After studying journalism, she began working as the editor-in-chief of the antiques and vintagewares magazine Trouvailles. Her first novel, La démangeaison, was published by Sortilèges in 1994. Recent publications include Opéra des oiseaux (Grasset, 2022) and Nos deuils attentifs (La rumeur libre, 2023). She was awarded a residency at the Villa Medici, the French Academy in Rome, in 2003; since 2007 she has run writing workshops in the Drôme region, where she lives today. Translated into several languages, her work is haunted by the question of love sustained by a search for meaning and knowledge.
