Biography

Born in 1968 in Thionville, France, Laure Hinckel is a print journalist, photographer, and translator of Romanian literature. She has publisher numerous articles and some thirty French translations of authors like Mircea Cărtărescu, Christian Mungiu, and Dora Pavel. Since 2020 she has been working on Déclic, a cross-disciplinary project combining text and photography that features fifty-five translators of Romanian literature. Her photography collection Bucarest, trente ans après (Fundatia Culturale Romane, 2024) was also the subject of a 2025 exhibition in Paris.
