Biography
Born in Osijek, Croatia, Ivo Alebić is a Croatian-language translator who works from Russian. After he graduated from the University of Zagreb in Russian language and literature and philosophy, he enrolled in postgraduate studies in literary theory at the Russian State University for Humanities. His translation of the novel The Blizzard by Vladimir Sorokin (Mećava, Fraktura, 2018) was included in the shortlist of the most important translations of books from Russian. In 2019, he was a fellow at Paul Celan Fellowships for Translator in Vienna, where he translated Theory of the Novel by Mikhail Bakhtin (Teorija romana, Edicije Božičević, 2020). He is currently at work on a Croatian translation of the Dark Avenues by the Russian author Ivan Bunin.
