Biography
Born in 1977 in Kazan, Tatarstan, Guzel Yakhina is a Russian author with Tatar roots. She is a graduate of the Kazan State Pedagogical University and went on to take a degree in script writing at the Moscow School of Film School. Yakhina’s debut novel, Zuleikha (Oneworld Publications, 2019) became a literary event in Russia and was adapted for the screen as a multipart film. Her next novels, Children of the Volga and Train to Samarkand, have won a number of literary awards. The books have been translated into forty languages, including Esperanto.
