Biography

Born in 1969 near Milan, Gioia Guerzoni is an Italian translator based in Greece. For nearly thirty years now she has been translating mainly fiction, working from English. Her love of the work has never diminished and indeed seems to grow by the day. She has translated both contemporary writers and classics, including Teju Cole, Jenny Offill, Siri Hustvedt, Deborah Levy, Hanif Kureishi, Iris Murdoch, Wilfred Thesiger, and Saki. After living for years in various megacities of the Subcontinent, she edited an anthology of Indian writers and a volume of nonfiction from India. Currently she is coediting a fiction series by African writers, writing short books in English with drawings by talented illustrators, and teaching translation practice in creative writing courses.
