Biography

The writer François-Henri Désérable was born in 1987 in Amiens, France. To date his work boasts four novels, including Mon maître et mon vainqueur (Gallimard, 2021), which took the Académie française’s Grand Prix du roman. In late 2022 he spent forty days in Iran, which he crossed from one end to the other, from Tehran to the border with the Balochistan region of Pakistan. He returned from that trip with the makings of a new book, L’usure d’un monde (Gallimard, 2023), the story of an Islamic Republic that is besieged by problems while violently suppressing the aspirations of its own people.
