Biography

The specialist of Scandinavian and Russian literature Elena Balzamo was born in 1956 in Moscow, where she did her universities studies before settling in Paris in 1981. A writer, essayist, translator, and literary critic, notably in the pages of Le Monde des livres, she has taught at the renowned school for research and higher education the École pratique des hautes études, and heads a seminar in literary translation at the Swedish Institute in Paris. She has published some ten works on Nordic literature, over sixty translations, and four autobiographical essays, her work having earned her numerous prizes. Éditions Noir sur Blanc brought out Cinq histoires russes in 2015, and Éditions Marie Barbier Triangle isocèle in 2019, and Décalcomanies in 2020.
