Dorota Stroinska

Born in Poznań in 1965, Dorota Stroińska has lived and worked in Berlin since 1986. She is a translator of German literature into Polish. Her translations include philosophical books by Karl Jaspers and Rüdiger Safranski, prose works by Lutz Seiler, Christian Kracht, Ilse Aichinger, and Lisa Kränzler, and the poetry of Nora Gomringer, Anja Kampmann, and Monika Rinck. Her translation of Nietzsche by Karl Jaspers won the Translator’s Prize of the Polish Translators Association, and her translation of Kruso by Lutz Seiler was nominated for the Central European Literature Prize Angelus. She founded an informal professional group called the German-Polish Translators’ Sztamtysz, regularly conducts seminars on translation, and teaches as a guest lecturer at universities. She has published essays on literature and translation, and curates and moderates literary programs. She is a cofounder and curator of the Festival for Literary Translation – translationale berlin.
