Biography
Benyamin (alias Benny Daniel) is an Indian author who writes in Malayalam, a language spoken notably in the Indian state of Kerala. He has written twenty-five books in various genres, including short stories, novels, and memoirs, mostly on how his land and its people transact with the rest of the world. He is widely translated into English: Goat Days (Penguin Books, 2012), Yellow Lights of Death (Penguin Books, 2015), Jasmine Days (Juggernaut Books, 2018), Al-Arabian Novel Factory (Juggernaut Books, 2018), Body and Blood (Harper Perennial, 2020). He was nominated for both the Man Asian Literary Prize and the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature, and has won several awards including the JCB Prize for Literature and Crossword Book Award.
