Biography
Born in 1976, the Sudanese writer and translator Atif Elhaj Saeed Hamza lives and works in France. He earned a PhD in linguistics from the Sudan University of Science and Technology. Between 2017 and 2023 he published four novels (with Ibiidi Publishing and Hachette-Antoine) that explore the themes of immigration, sexual identity, and the difficulties surrounding national identity. He has also translated into Arabic several novels by the French writer Anne Bourrel (éditions Willows). Over the course of his career, he has earned a number of awards that include a grant from the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, and a second from the Centre national du livre in Paris.
