Biography
Asako Serizawa was born in Japan and raised in Singapore, Jakarta, and Tokyo. Her debut work of fiction, Inheritors (Doubleday, 2020), is a heartbreakingly kaleidoscopic portrait of five generations from a Japanese family scattered across Asia and the United States after World War II. The book won both the PEN Open Book Award and The Story Prize Spotlight Award. She is also the recipient of grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and her work has received two O. Henry Prizes, a Pushcart Prize, and a Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers’ Award. She currently lives in Boston.
