Biography

Antonio Ungar, born in Bogotá in 1974, is a Colombian writer and journalist. In the late 1990s he spent a year in the Colombian jungle in contact with the indigenous population, then traveled abroad, living in Manchester, Mexico, and Barcelona, before settling in Palestine. He is the author of several novels and story collections, which have been translated into a number of languages. His novel Tres ataúdes blancos was awarded the 2010 Herralde Prize and was shortlisted for the Rómulo Gallegos Prize. His latest novel, Eva y las fieras (2022), tells the story of a Bogotá nurse and her daughter, who, wanting to lend a helping hand to the native peoples of the Amazon, leave the city for life in the jungle.
