Biography

Aldona Kopkiewicz is a Polish poet and writer. Her first collection of poems, sierpień (Lokator, 2015), takes an autobiographical approach to explore the theme of death and earned the author the Wrocław Silesius Poetry Award. She went on to publish Szczodra (WBPiCAK, 2018), winner of the Kościelski Prize, and Przy sobie (Warstwy, 2022). She was also a recipient of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage’s Młoda Polska scholarship. In 2024, her surreal short story collection Panna Denna i inne zmyślenia was published by Lokator. It features pieces that are defined as “fairytales” in which the author conjures up a myriad of odd characters.
